Blast from the Past Fresh Off the Frame

Circle of Friends

This quilt is one of mine and it is surely a Blast from the Past.  It was a Block of the Month by Pat Sloan titled Circle of Friends.  I’m guessing 2005 or so?  Jolene, Sheila, and I all participated.  Jolene’s was quilted by me and in a guild show and I’m thinking it got a ribbon.  Then I quilted Sheila’s.  Mine has languished in the To Be Quilted closet for probably ten years or more.  The other day I decided it was time to quilt something for me and I dug around in the closet.  And there it was.  I decided to not do custom quilting on it but to do a pretty edge to edge.  One – I wanted it DONE.  Two – I’ve learned a lot in the twelve years I’ve been longarm quilting and this top is very very busy.  Custom quilting can get lost.  Three – I’ve gotten over my feeling that applique should not just be quilted over.  DONE is better than hanging in a closet and as soon as my binder gets the binding on it will grace my spare bedroom (also known as Jolene’s room).
